# Shift Check-In Bot

> How your employers can check in into a shift?

**Shift Check-In Bot** is designed to reduce no-shows and late arrivals by asking your workers to check in online before their shifts, just like for a flight.

Roosted can email and text your workers in advance, at a time you choose, and ask them to check-in. Essential information can be emailed or viewed in real-time on your Roosted account.

Shift Check-In can be adjusted in Configuration - Settings - Worker Communication - Shift Check-In Bot. Please see **[Shift Check-In Bot Settings](../configuration/shift-check-in-bot-settings)** for more information.

## How do workers check-in?

* emails and texts are sent to each worker, asking to check-in.

* check-in can be done via mobile app or desktop

* we recommend shift check-in reminders to be sent out 2-3 days ahead of a shift

## Who checked in?

* Depending on the settings, before an event admins will receive a summary email of workers who did and did not check-in.

* On **Calendar View or Side By Side View**, you can see who checked in by a dot or a green tick box next to their name.

## A worker can't check in yet?

There are 2 reasons why a shift check-in might not be possible:

1. The shift check-in period - the check-in email/text message will not go out to workers until the shift is within the period.

2. The shift is within the check-in time, but the worker still can't check in - If you have just added the worker, it may take up to 1 hour for the shift check-in email to be sent out.

If you have added a worker to a shift that begins within 6 hours, the worker(s) will automatically be checked in. Please check our video explaining all the details!

And this is how you can use **Shift Check-In Bot** through Roosted! 😄
