# Check-In

> How to use Check-In feature on Desktop & Mobile App

In Roosted, Checking-In to your shift is very similar to a pre-flight check-in. When you Check-in, you let your employer know that you are ready to work on that particular shift. Usually, it is done a few days before the shift itself. It is a way of confirming that you are coming to work. Easy, right? If your company uses the Shift Check-In system, you will receive a notification in a certain number of days before your shift is due to start. Depending on company settings it can be an email, SMS, or push notification. You may also click Check-In on your Roosted account if it is within the Check-In period. It is important to remember, that Checking-In is completely different than Punching-in & Punching-out. Check-in informs your company that **you will be there** (typically 2-3 days before the shift), Punching in & out is actually starting and ending your shift. You can easily do the pre Check-In on both desktop & the mobile app. **Desktop:** To Check-In, enter **My Shifts**:

If the Check-in is already possible, the button will be shown in a blue font. If not, the font will be black. Click the Check-in button and confirm. You will receive a confirmation via email or text message - click the link on the message received. **Mobile App:** On the homepage, tap CURRENT SHIFTS or My Shifts (visible in the hamburger icon ☰), and you will be able to Check-In. If it is too early to Check-In or your company does not use the Shift Check-In system, this box will be grey.

If Check-In is possible, the button will be blue and active. If you have already done that, it will say CHECKED IN.

You must confirm the Check-In so your employer knows that you are available to work. If you have not confirmed your Check-in, your company may find a replacement. Please check our YouTube trainer for an even better view!
